The leadership of the Ghana National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) has warned Education Minister, Hon. Matthew Opoku Prempeh against running education businesses in the media.
“The minister on several occasions communicates every information directed at us in the media”, NAGRAT president, Christian Addai-Poku alleged.
“Recently, he was in the media that teachers will be closing from work at four O’clock despite our earlier concerns addressed to him on how he choose to communicate to us”, the president revealed.
According to the teachers, the attitude of the Manhyia South lawmaker shows gross disrespect and affront to teachers in the country urging him to eschew pride.
“When you are in a certain position you are not just like anyone who will say anything and justify it as your personal thoughts”, the NAGRAT president told Hon. Opoku Prempeh.
“You can’t say everything because you hold sensitive position”, Mr. Christian Addia-Poku pointed out a Kumasi-based radio station.
According to the Association, members are in oblivion and lack understanding of the yet to be introduced licensing examination for teachers.
“I do not have any official communication from the Ministry of Education. …I got to know that teachers will be writing licensing examination in the media”, the NAGRAT president stated.
