SHS Placement System: Parents call for extension.

Parents and prospective SHS students, yet to be placed by the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) into senior high schools have appealed to government and the Ghana education service to extend the deadline for the placement exercise.

Some of the affected students told Otec Fm’s Evans Agyei Sikapa that the website address -myjhsresult.net – that GES directed all to use to reapply has been down since Saturday and as a result many are unable to complete the placement process.

They however expressed fear and anxiety for not knowing whether they will be placed in the schools of their choice to be able to benefit from the free SHS policy.

Some parents also expressed their anger and frustration at the situation and pleaded with government to extend the 4th September deadline for the placement to ensure equity in the policy as promised.

Meanwhile operators of various internet cafes where most students check their placement have also described the situation as a worrying.

One of the operators, Robert Acheampong revealed that the system for checking the placement has been down and mostly becomes active between the hours of 4am to 10pm everyday, blaming the education sector for not being proactive.

Meanwhile, after the Ghana Education Service discovered that over 150,000 qualified BECE candidates have still not been placed against its September 4 deadline, the service has extended the deadline to Tuesday, September 5, 2017 .
