Demo against Ghana-US Defence deal ends in Accra (Photos)

Members of the pressure group, Ghana First Patriotic Front (GFPF) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have hit the streets of Accra to protest the ratified Ghana-US defence cooperation agreement.

The march started from Obra Spot through the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange area to Farisco Traffic Light to TUC to EOCO and ended at the Hearts Park.

Chief Superintendent Kwesi Ofori, who is in charge of Greater Accra operations of the police said : “We witnessed an incident-free demonstration, [which was] very orderly and we register our appreciation to the leadership of the demonstrators even in times of challenges as we proceeded, they also intervened and they were on our side to talk to some of the demonstrators especially at Farisco when some wanted to go through the COCOBOD/UTC area and that cooperation I think was good and we need to thank them all for their support”.

Addressing hundreds of protesters in Accra Wednesday, The National Democratic Congress (NDC) General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia said progressives all over the world are neither cowed nor distracted by political obstacles.

“They ignore them and focus on the mission ahead of them until victory is won,” he charged a teeming crowd made up of NDC, Convention People’s Party (CPP), People’s National Convention (PNC) and All People’s Congress (APC) supporters.
