Akufo-Addo sells ‘Year of Return’ in St. Vincent and the Grenadines

On Wednesday, 12 June 2019, Ghana’s President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, undertook a day’s official visit to St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the Caribbean.

The purpose of the trip was to strengthen Ghana’s bilateral relations with that country and also explore areas of mutual co-operation for the benefit of the two countries.

Amongst others, Nana Akufo-Addo held discussions with the Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Dr Ralph Gonsalves; and also addressed a special sitting of the House of Assembly, as part of efforts to promote the “Year of Return”.

The Year of Return is an open invitation to Africans in the diaspora who trace their ancestry to Ghana to return to the country.

It is also a major landmark marketing campaign targeting the African-American and diaspora market to mark 400 years of the first enslaved African arriving in Jamestown Virginia.
