63rd Independence Day parade to be held in Kumasi

Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Keith Rowley will be a special guest at the Ghana’s 63rd Independence Day parade scheduled to be held in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital on 6 March.

Chairman for the anniversary’s Planning Committee, Laud Commey, who disclosed this said the Independence Day celebration will be on the theme: “Consolidating Our Gains”.

Speaking at the media launch of the anniversary in Kumasi, Mr Commey said the Baba Yara sports stadium where the parade will be held has been awarded for rehabilitation ahead of the programme.

The 63rd independence day cerebration which is on the theme “Consolidating Our Gains 63 Years On” will have the Asantehene Otumfour Osei Tutu II as the Guest of Honour and the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Keith Rowley as the Special Guest of Honour.

Addressing journalists in Kumasi on Tuesday February 4, 2020, Lord Comey said the theme consolidates the success made in achieving peace and unity among Ghanaians also reiterates the fact that Ghana will continue to be the beacon of hope while remaining peaceful.

He added that Ghana will continue to protect “its enviable record of being one of the most peaceful countries in Africa.”.

Meanwhile, the National Celebrations Planning Committee has unveiled the anniversary logo for this year’s celebration.

The logo which is the figure 63 with an ‘Adinkra’ symbol as ‘Bi nkabi’ to wit ‘one does not bite the other’ which resonate with the theme of peace and living in harmony.
