Abandoned truck kills 5 people in another accident at Tuobodom, 37 others injured

An early Wednesday morning accident on the Techiman-Tuobodom road in the Bono East Region has claimed 5 lives.

A Kumasi bound KIA Grandbird Bus with registration number KK-1-20 from Bolgatanga was involved in an accident on the Kintampo-Techiman road at a point close to the Tuobodom Senior High School in the Techiman North District of Bono East region when it run into a broken down articulator DAF truck loaded with stationary from Burkina Faso.

The accident happened around 4a.m on Wednesday, January 19, 2022

Confirming the sad incident to this reporter,  Nana Kwadwo Adu in Techiman, Mr. Acheampong-Parry Emmanuel Bono East Regional Manager of National Road Safety Authority said it happened at around 3:50am on Wednesday, 19th January 2022.

He revealed that five (5) passengers in the Grandbird Bus comprising of 3 adults (2 males and 1 female) and two (2) children died on the spot.

Fourteen (14) other passengers including an officer from the Ghana Immigration Service were also injured and are on admission at the Holy Family Hospital in Techiman with two (2) of them being in very critical conditions.

According to Mr. Acheampong-Parry the faulty DAF truck was left unattended to with no warning triangle to signal  oncoming vehicles of the danger ahead and cautioned against such behaviors.

He added that  the Bus driver who also appeared to have lost concentration or could possibly be sleeping while driving at top speed could have saved the situation therefore advised drivers to take a brake and rest anytime they are going on long journeys..
