”I’ll resource women, youth in Asokwa”-Cuscus assures

Eric Adu Fosu (Cuscus), aspiring assistant secretary of Asokwa NPP addressing NPP polling station women at a day’s capacity building workshop at Ahinsan Community Centre
Eric Adu Fosu, aspiring assistant secretary for the Asokwa constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has reaffirmed his commitment to doing more to empower women and the youth in Asokwa.

Speaking at his sponsored capacity building workshop for women in Asokwa NPP at the Ahinsan Community Center on Saturday, Mr Fosu popularly known as ‘Cuscus’ said when women and the youth are empowered almost 90 percent of the problems in a community are solved.

He noted that the earlier training the women got in soap making as well as in the preparation of other detergents, were some of the empowerment modules he is designing to pursue all year round when elected as assistant secretary.

He charged the women to continue to perfect the skill they had gotten from the training and use it to seek for funds to do so on a large scale.
‘’I am confident that when all of you learn a trade or develop a skill in either soap making or in detergent preparations, looking for support would be easy because people would want to invest their funds into viable ventures’’, Mr Fosu noted.
COUNSELLING AND TRAINING WORKSHOP:
Addressing the women who comprised polling station executives from electoral areas in Asokwa, Naana Hayford-Domfeh, a relationship coach and general manager for Ezra Communications Group said women possessed the best of skills to maintain the home.
She encouraged the women not to be idle at the house but learn a trade or skill so they could help in maintaining the home as well as becoming helpmates for their husbands if they are married.
Mark Nyame, an entrepreneur and children’s coach admonished women not to pick and choose from among their kids who their best was but treat them fairly and in a loving manner.
He noted that children best learn from actions and added that as parents they should pass on the lessons they verbally teach the children through what they do at the house.
FINANCIAL INDEPENDENCE:
On his part, Kwame Sam, a staff at the Office of the Vice-President said women need to learn the art of saving money at the bank for future use.
He therefore encouraged them to take advantage of many of the women empowerment modules as well as the upcoming YOU-Start module so as to get funds to initiate the business ideas they may have.
Paul Yandoh, an aspiring assistant regional secretary of the NPP in his brief remarks to the women said, many who took advantage of Masloc loan as well as the NEIP Support program and the COVID-19 support for SMEs have been able to expand and maintain their businesses up till now.
He however asked executives of the Asokwa NPP to take particular interest in the wellbeing of their members and ensure that they are given support for programs the government initiates so that members would become financially independent.
Rounding up the talk session, Assemblyman for Ahensan Electoral Area and an aspiring constituency youth organizer for Asokwa, Nana Yaw Danso who is popularly known as “Anelka” said, having business ideas makes it easy to attract sponsorship.
He promised to carry out such skills training workshops for the youth when elected in the upcoming constituency elections so as to make them financially independent.
