Suame Heaves A Sigh of Relief As President Cut-Sod For Four-tier Interchange Project
The President, HE Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, at exactly 2:40pm today, Tuesday 18th day of October, 2022, joined the Minister of Roads and Highways, Hon Akwasi Amoako Atta, the Majority Leader/Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Hon Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah and host of other high profiled dignitaries to cut-sod for commencement of works on the long awaited Suame Interchange Project in the Suame Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The 222million Euro Phase One of the four-tier Interchange project, which includes a 47m euro ancillary roads and another 174million euro funding for the main interchange, would help improve the traffic situation in the affected municipalities, and is expected to be completed within 30months from date of commencement by Rango, the main contractors executing the project.
The project, which is estimated to cost 300million euros in all, has several local subcontractors executing various facet for speedy completion.
The colourful ceremony saw the presence of Ministers of State, Members of Parliament, Municipal Chief Executives, Nananom of the Suame Municipality Directors and staff of the Department of Urban Roads, representation from the Muslim Community led by the Ashanti Regional Chief Immam, the Christian Community, colleagues from the NPP family and people from all walks of like
Various Speakers, ranging from the Ashanti Regional Minister through Nana Baffour Adu Gyamfi Kumanin (Kwaprahene), Dr. Mathew Opoku (Energy Minister) to Hon Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu (the Majority Leader/Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and MP for Suame) heaped praises on the President for making this dream come to fruition.
The Majority Leader enumerated various projects the current administration has undertaken for the people of Suame and Ashanti Region in general. And urged the people to show appreciation as such would serve as moral booster for the president to do more for the region.
President Akufo-Addo has since performed the Sod-Cutting ceremony for works to begin.
