Otto Addo names Black Stars squad for World Cup; injured Wollacott, Ofori miss out
Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo has named his 26-man squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Goalkeepers, Joseph Wollacott and Richard Ofori and midfielder, Iddrisu Baba miss out because of injury.
Wollacott picked up a finger injury during the warm-up in Charlton Athletic’s 3-3 draw with Burton Albion in the English League One.
Ofori was also absent in Orlando Pirates’ loss to Mamelodi Sundowns in the South African Carling Cup final.
Baba Iddrisu was omitted after picking up a late injury while playing for Real Mallorca.
There’s no place in the squad as well for Joseph Paintsil, Majeed Ashimeru, Mubarak Wakaso and Jeffrey Schlupp.
Captain, Andre Ayew will lead the team in his third World Cup alongside his brother Jordan, Thomas Partey and Kudus Mohammed.
There is also a place in the squad for Asante Kotoko goalkeeper, Ibrahim Danlad and Hearts of Oak talisman, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh.
