The Deputy Minister for Communications and Digitalization, Hon Ama Pomaa Boateng has urged students at the Universities to look to opportunities that are available in the digital space of Ghana to secure permanent jobs for themselves and their peers after school.
Addressing students at the Engineering Department of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) during the 2023 Digital and Sustainability Experience conference last Friday, Hon Pomaa said there were countless job opportunities in the digital world.
For Ghana, the Deputy Minister who is also Member of Parliament (MP) for Juaben said there are training and skills development opportunities at the Ghana Digital Centers for interested persons.
Currently, the Deputy Minister said many were training at the digital hub and exploring opportunities that can make them secure jobs permanently.
ADVICE:
The Deputy Minister advised engineering students who have interests in the designing of applications and business solution tools to develop these interests into reality.
She noted that companies across the world were looking for innovations that would make their tasks and jobs easier.
This, she noted, provides opportunities for those who are technologically savvy to explore and to gain recognition by the applications they could design to offer solutions for businesses.
‘’Explore your capacities in the digital space and make use of opportunities the government through the Communications Ministry has provided for training and development at the digital centers so that you can secure permanent jobs after school’’, the Deputy Minister noted.
Coordinator:
The Coordinator for the Summit, Abednego Brandy Opey commended the Deputy Minister for sharing with them ideas that would make them secure jobs after school.
He noted many think the use of phones and the internet are only for entertainment purposes but hidden in there are spaces for research and job opportunities.
Other Speakers:
Deputy Minister for Energy, Herbert Krapa who also spoke at the summit outlined the government’s vision for the Energy sector from now till 2070.
He noted that deliberate investments and policies were being made so that Ghana can optimize the use of gas instead of charcoal or fire wood for cooking and thereby reduce CO2 emissions and safeguard the environment.
A representative from the Volta River Authority encouraged students in the department to explore job opportunities in the digital space so that they could land jobs after school and develop themselves into useful citizens in the future.
