NPP Primaries: No intimidation will take my votes away – Ken Agyapong
Flagbearer hopeful for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong says
No amount of intimidation will stop him from winning the Presidential primaries of the party.
According to him, some top officials of the party are going round intimidating delegates in an attempt to stop them from voting for him (Kennedy Agyapong) in the Presidential primaries.
He described the situation as worrying, adding that such intimidations in an internal elections meant to be free, fair and transparent is a recipe for collapsing the party.
Speaking at the Kumasi edition of the Showdown Walk on Saturday September 30, 2023, Kennedy Agyapong said he will resist any attempt by some individuals to collapse the party.
The Member of Parliament for the Assin North Constituency, observed that, some bigwigs of the ruling party are slowly destroying the very foundation of the NPP fraternity due to their selfish interests, something he has vowed to reject.
“The forebears of our great party built the structure of NPP with the tenets of demonstrate and freedom of association, but we have some individuals who just joined the party but want to win power through intimidation”
“Most of the polling station Executives have been warned not to vote for Kennedy Agyapong, some individuals in the party are threatening to get anyone who votes for Kennedy Agyapong out of the party”
“But I can assure you that, I am winning this race come rain or shine”
About the Showdown Walk
Kennedy Agyapong who is contesting to be elected as the Presidential Candidate for the ruling New Patriotic Party, and his campaign team, organised a health walk at the stronghold of the NPP, Kumasi, on Saturday, 30th September, 2023.
The health walk was intended to galvanize support and demonstrate the popularity of Ken Agyapong in the party’s “world bank” to the world.
Hundreds of supporters who believe in the candidature of Kejetia Agyapong during the walk showed up in their numbers to offer their support.
NPP Presidential Primaries
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has set Saturday, November 4, 2023, for its Presidential primaries to select a flagbearer for the 2024 General Elections.
Four candidates are currently racing to lead the party including Vice president Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, Assin North MP Kennedy Agyapong, former Agric Minister, Dr Afriyie Akoto and a former MP for Mampong Mr Addai Nimoh.
