Asokwa Municipal Assembly commissions DRIP machines for use
Asokwa Municipal Assembly Committee to oversee to the use of the DRIP initiative
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asokwa, Chief Akwannuasah Gyimah together with the Deputy Majority Leader in Parliament and MP for Asokwa, Madam Patricia Appiagyei on Thursday commissioned road construction equipment under the government’s District Road Improvement Project (DRIP) for Asokwa.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony where concrete making machines, large trucks, graders and others were on display at the grounds, the MCE commended the government for the DRIP initiative.
He noted that the project would enable the Assembly to deal with road issues in the Municipality.
“I commend government for this DRIP project and urge persons trained to handle these equipment to do so with diligence as we set out to carry out maintenance of roads in the Asokwa Municipality”, the MCE stated.
Member of Parliament:
On her part, Madam Patricia Appiagyei, MP for Asokwa welcomed the DRIP initiative and commended the Nana Akufo-Addo government for same.
She asked the Assembly to take advantage of the availability of the machines to repair roads in communities that are unmotorable in Asokwa.
“I urge the people of Asokwa to reciprocate government’s road construction efforts by voting for Dr Mahamodu Bawumia as President as well as NPP Parliamentary candidates across Ghana on December 7 to enable the NPP government to continue to deliver transformational leadership”, Madam Appiagyei appealed.
DRIP Coordinator For Ashanti:
Addressing the gathering, the Ashanti Regional Coordinator for the DRIP project, Mr Kwabena Senkyire said the equipment supplied by his outfit is aimed at ensuring that all roads in the country were made motorable.
He urged the Asokwa Assembly to make full use of the equipment to deal with road issues it may have.
Presiding Member:
Nana Yaw Wiredu, Assembly Member for Ahensan Estate and NALAG Representative for Ashanti thanked government for the DRIP project.
This, he noted would enable the various Assemblies attend to road issues, adding that many Assembly Members had lost the opportunity to continue their service with some Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) due to their failure to help deal with road issues in their electoral areas.
Regent of Asokwa:
Speaking at the ceremony as Chairman for the occasion, the Regent of Asokwa, Nana Fe-Baamoah thanked the NPP government for the DRIP initiative.
He also asked the Asokwa Assembly to take full advantage of the availability of the equipment to carry out reshaping and regravelling of roads in Asokwa.
