Ghana is on the cusp of its ninth general elections in the 4th Republic, with 12 presidential hopefuls and 801 parliamentary candidates vying for office.
According to the Frimpong-Manso Institute, the electoral processes have been generally peaceful, fair, and transparent, setting the stage for a credible election.
The institute observes that campaigning has been largely decent, devoid of incendiary rhetoric and tensions witnessed in previous elections.
The Institute in a press release on Thursday, signed by its president Rev Professor Frimpong Manso said the Electoral Commission has addressed sticky situations promptly, with the active involvement of political parties and key stakeholders.
The National Election Security Task Force, led by IGP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has assured the nation of a conducive voting climate and swift action against any agent of violence or enemy of democracy.
The Frimpong-Manso Institute emphasizes that Ghana’s commitment to tolerance and peace must hold the nation together, regardless of who wins the elections.
The preservation of peace is imperative, and the institute urges all stakeholders to prioritize peace and transparency throughout the electoral process.
With the Electoral Commission assuring a free, fair, and transparent election, Ghanaians can have confidence in the democratic process.
As Rev. Prof. Paul Frimpong-Manso, President of the Frimpong-Manso Institute, notes, “History is watching, the world is watching.
