Majority Taking Minority for Granted in Parliament – Hon. Kwabena Boateng
The Member of Parliament for Ejisu constituency, Hon. Kwabena Boateng, has expressed concerns that the Majority in Parliament is disregarding the Minority.
He described the situation as worrying and called on the Majority to treat the Minority with respect.
His comments follow the Speaker of Parliament’s decision to unilaterally suspend three Minority members over a dispute during the Appointment Committee’s work.
Lawyer Kwabena Boateng urged members from both sides to stand against this development to prevent future chaos.
In an interview with Prince Nii Ardey, aka Dr. Cash on Kumasi-based OTEC 102.9 FM’s afternoon political show, Dwabrem, on Monday February 3, 2025, Hon. Kwabena Boateng emphasized that the Minority will not tolerate such actions.
He stressed the need for mutual respect and cooperation between the Majority and Minority to ensure the smooth functioning of Parliament.
The Ejisu MP’s concerns highlight the growing tensions between the Majority and Minority in Parliament, sparking debates about the need for greater bipartisanship and respect for democratic processes.
