Former Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Afigya Kwabre South, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as COKA, has called for a shift in how the party refers to its grassroots representatives.
In a Facebook post COKA suggested that the term “delegates” be replaced with “volunteers,” as he believes the role has gradually turned into a professional pursuit for some members.
“In rebuilding our party, one modification I would appreciate is replacing the term ‘delegates’ with ‘volunteers,’ as it is becoming a profession for some people,” COKA stated.

His comments come amid ongoing discussions within the NPP about how to strengthen the party’s base and maintain active grassroots participation.
The party has received a report from an investigative committee tasked with probing the causes of its humiliating defeat in the 2024 general election.
Meanwhile, the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, along with other top party officials, is touring the country on a “Thank You” tour to express gratitude to supporters.
