Kumasi Mayor promises $1,000 goal bonus to Asante Kotoko ahead of President’s Cup clash

Chief Executive Officer of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Richard Ofori Agyemang, has pledged a financial reward to Asante Kotoko players ahead of their high-stakes clash with Hearts of Oak in the 2025 President’s Cup.

The much-anticipated showdown between Ghana’s two most decorated football clubs is set for Sunday, July 6, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

During a visit to Asante Kotoko’s training grounds, the Kumasi Mayor—accompanied by Ashanti Regional Minister Frank Amoakohene—motivated the team with a special incentive.

He promised the players $200 for every goal scored against their arch-rivals, up to a total of five goals, amounting to $1,000.

“We want you to give us five goals. Every goal you score, you will earn $200. We will bring the money to the stadium. If you can score the five goals, you will earn $1,000. So on Sunday, just make sure you beat Hearts of Oak for us,” Richard Ofori Agyemang told the team.

The President of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, is expected to be in attendance for the fixture, which is scheduled to kick off at 16:00 GMT.
