Kumasi: Three Nigerian nationals sentenced 20 years in prison for vehicle theft

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has successfully prosecuted and convicted three Nigerian nationals, Francis Friday, Linus Agwazie, and Russell Ekenze, for engaging in theft activities targeting parked vehicles in the Kumasi Metropolis.
The suspects were arrested on June 20, 2025, and arraigned before various courts in July 2025.
Russell Ekenze was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment with hard labor after pleading guilty, while Francis Friday and Linus Agwazie were sentenced to 8 years imprisonment with hard labor after being found guilty.
All three suspects received additional 20-year sentences on separate charges, with the sentences to run concurrently.
The convicts are currently serving their sentences at the Kumasi Central Prison.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command DSP Godwin Ahianyo in an interview with OTEC News Reporter Kwame Agyenim Boateng on Saturday September 6, 2025 on the case commended its collaboration with the judiciary in ensuring that criminal elements face the full rigors of the law.
The police urge the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities and providing timely information to aid in crime prevention and public safety.
