CHASS withdraws participation from 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz

The Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) has announced that senior high schools across the country will not be able to take part in the balloting and subsequent stages of the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) due to financial constraints.

In a letter dated October 3, 2025, and signed by the National Secretary, Baro Primus, CHASS informed Primetime Limited, organisers of the NSMQ, that schools are unable to mobilise and prepare students for the competition because government funds meant for such activities have not yet been released.

“We regret to inform you that schools will not be able to participate in the balloting and subsequently the quiz competition due to non-availability of funds,” the letter stated.

The association, however, assured the organisers that once the government releases the required funds, it will review its decision and communicate accordingly.

CHASS also apologised for any inconvenience caused by the development and expressed appreciation for the organisers’ understanding.
