Hon. Tweneboa Kodua Fokuo, Member of Parliament for Manso Nkwanta, has criticised the 2026 Budget, describing it as overly ambitious without the practical steps needed to transform the economy.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, during the debate on the budget, the MP cautioned against relying on impressive projections without actionable plans.
According to him, “We cannot rely only on lofty numbers and hefty projections.” He argued that the budget still falls short of providing clear, workable strategies to address the country’s economic challenges.
“Mr Speaker, the budget continues to rely on intentions rather than clear, practical measures to secure economic transformation,” he said.
Hon. Fokuo further insisted that the 2026 Budget fails to meet the needs of the Ghanaian people. “Mr Speaker, the 2026 budget does not genuinely empower our people, it does not drive innovation, and it does not develop the human capital of the country,” he stated.
He therefore urged government to prioritise job creation initiatives, especially for the country’s growing youth population. “We need deliberate and sustainable job creation for our teeming youth,” he emphasised.
