Concerned Members of NPP USA Branch have rejected claims by one Theophilus Nkansah, chapter chairman of NPP-Massachussetts that the external branches rejected the revised NPP internal election guidelines.
The Concern group described the claims as malicious and wicked.
They therefore called on all NPP members and observers to treat that misleading information as trash.
This portal brings the full rejoinder from the Concerned Members of the NPP- USA Branch.
REJOINDER: NPP-USA MEMBERS REJECT REVISED ELECTION GUIDELINES
Our attention has been drawn to despicable publications in various online media portals by a member of NPP-USA Massachusetts chapter, Mr. Theophilus Nkansah, which are not only malicious but misleading and full of lies and only intended to create acrimony between the NPP-USA External Branch, the Party’s General Secretary, Lawyer Justin Frimpong Koduah, Esq. and the New Patriotic Party at-large.
The author in his said publications made these unfortunate remarks to the effect that:
➢ NPP-USA members had rejected the revised election guidelines
➢ NPP-USA members are accusing General Secretary of Disenfranchising over 600 voters
➢ NPP-USA slams Kodua over election rules after cashing dues
On his first assertion that NPP-USA members had rejected the published guidelines, this can be far from the truth. There has been no platform by NPP-USA or a meeting of NPP-USA members where the members where accorded the privilege of sharing their opinion on the election guidelines. This assertion can only be described as a malicious lie or a figment of the authors imagination.
On the second assertion of the General Secretary disenfranchising over 600 voters. The unfortunate remarks by the author shows a clear misunderstanding on the part of the author on the protocols and structure of the New Patriotic Party. The General Secretary as the chief scribe of the New Patriotic Party does not dictate election guidelines but rather the National Executive Committee acting for and on behalf of the National Council in accordance with Article 10(4)(1) of the party constitution considers and approves election guidelines for the party and not just NPP-USA. The General secretary just communicates the recommendations to the members of the party. NPP-USA is not an island within the party. The election guidelines are issued to ensure fairness, transparency and equity for all the members of the party both in Ghana and for all external branches. To interpret a streamlined guidelines in the interest of the National Party’s cohesion as a machination of the Party General Secretary is very unfortunate.
On the third assertion, that the General Secretary has cashed in on dues of NPP-USA members, NPP-USA member dues are not controlled or directed by the party General Secretary. In fact, in accordance with Article 8 (4) of the NPP Constitution, the NPP-USA dictates and levies the NPP-USA members based on the NPP-USA guidelines and also operates its own bank accounts independent of the mother party. To assert that the General Secretary collected dues from NPP-USA members and disenfranchised the members is not only false and disingenuous but also puts NPP-USA in a bad light with the mother party.
In-conclusion not only are the assertions of the writer false and malicious, but it is also a dangerous precedent in our external NPP-USA branch. We also believe the assertions of the writer are underpinned by self-serving interest emanating from the current political climate that the party finds itself in and if this development remains unchecked, we risk seeing the NPP-USA Branch spiraling into downward chaos.
It is of uttermost importance that the NPP-USA Party leadership come out to not only address this unfortunate development but also condemn these reckless comments by Mr. Theophilus Nkansah in no uncertain terms and to assure all members that a great task is given to us as an external branch by the party. These disparaging and repugnant comments have no place in our body politic.
We remain CITIZENS!
Signed
Concerned Members of NPP-USA External Branch
