Update: 11 dead, 13 injured in multiple-vehicle crash at Ofankor

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has confirmed that 11 people have been killed and 13 others injured in a multiple-vehicle crash on the Ofankor-Pokuase stretch.

The crash occurred at about 4:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 13, between the Ofankor Barrier and the John Teye enclave, involving 24 people.

Seven vehicles were involved in the crash two tipper trucks, two Sprinter buses, two saloon cars and a tricycle.

The 13 injured victims have been conveyed to the Achimota Hospital for medical attention.

The GNFS said rescue teams from the Amasaman Fire Station and its headquarters were dispatched to the scene to assist with rescue operations.

Speaking to Channel One  News on Thursday, August 13, DO1 Emmanuel Bonnie said investigations were underway to establish the circumstances that led to the crash.
