Willingway Recovery Centre honours Prof Lungu for decades of support

The Willingway Recovery and Rehabilitation Centre (WRRC) has honoured one of its longstanding philanthropists, Professor Dr Kofi Newman, popularly known as Prof Lungu, for his dedication and contributions to the centre over the past decade.

The visit was organised to recognise and appreciate his invaluable support and commitment to the centre’s mission of providing care and rehabilitation for people living with mental health conditions and those struggling with substance abuse.

Addressing the media, the Chief Executive Officer of Willingway Recovery and Rehabilitation Centre, Mrs Lydia Abena Manu Adofo, explained that her motivation for establishing the facility stemmed from the shortage of rehabilitation centres in the country, despite the growing concern over drug abuse.

She therefore appealed to the government to establish more rehabilitation facilities and introduce policies to enable people with mental health conditions to access treatment under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

Professor Dr Kofi Newman, in response, expressed appreciation to the management of the centre for its efforts to support people living with mental health conditions.

He also called on individuals, non-governmental organisations, institutions and other stakeholders to support the centre’s mission of providing care and rehabilitation services to people in need.
