The General Secretary for the Opposition National Democratic Congress, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has describeb the newly implemented Free SHS policy as progressively free education other than what Ptresident Akufo-Addo and the NPP promised Ghanaians.
”I am amazed by the media for failing to push Akufo-Addo into honouring his free SHS promise but are content and commending him on the implementation of this progressively Free education program”, he said.
General mosquito claims President Akufo-Addo promised to make senior high school free for every SHS student including continuing students but has failed to live up to his promise making the policy progressively free and not free as he made Ghanaians to believe.
”Now that Nana Addo has connived with the media to tell Ghanaians that he is doing Free SHS as he promised, that is the biggest wonder in this country”, he noted.
According to him, the NDC is not against the progressively free education policy but the NPP who are now doing the same policy criticized it when the National democratic Congress started it.
”Those who criticised the progressively free education policy after we introduced it should come out and apologise to Ghanaians and confess that the policy was indeed a good one”, he stated.
He believes that the challenges that characterized the school placement exercise and admissions would have been worst if the NDC government had not constructed the 50 new school blocks across the country.
”This is a vindication of the foresight of the national democratic congress that there should be more schools before we can make SHS free”, he told an Accra based radio station.
