The wife of the Vice President and presidential candidate for the NPP, Hajia Samira Bawumia on Wednesday joined the Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Minister, Hon Stephen Asamoah Boateng to commission a modernised market arena.
The market arena which has been named Asabee Market by the people is to recognise the contribution by the Minister to the development of the town.
Popularly known as Asabeee, the Chieftaincy Minister was once the Member of Parliament for the constituency from 2004 to 2008.

Eulogising the Chieftaincy Minister during the commissioning, Hon Ophelia Mensah Hayford, Member of Parliament for Mfantseman commended the Minister for helping to turn the area which was a rubbish dump to what they were commissioning.
“The people of Mfantseman are grateful to you Asabeee for turning this arena, a one time rubbish dump into what we are seeing today and we are also grateful to the local government ministry for supporting us to complete this project”, the MP noted.

Giving details, the MP said the now market arena was once a waterlogged area which had been turned into a rubbish dump.
Through the personal initiative of Asabeee including the committing of funds, the MP said the place was turned into a market arena.
Hon Hayford also disclosed that the area previously was congested due to the trading activities of women who sold at same.
“This modernized arena will undoubtedly enhance the market’s infrastructure, improving the trading experience for vendors and customers alike”, the MP stated.
Track Record of Asabeee:
Serving as the Member of Parliament from 2004 to 2008, Hon Asamoah Boateng concentrated on four key areas of development in Mfantseman.
These included education, social empowerment, rural electrification and access to water and health services for residents.
Currently, the community can boast of the ASABEE market as well as a dam that provides portable drinking water for the inhabitants.
The Minister is also noted for funding the education of many young people in the community who have since risen to become influential residents.
Furthermore, Hon Asamoah Boateng is credited for pursuing a vigorous rural electrification project to ensuring all communities under Mfantseman were put on the national grid.
Meanwhile, the ASABEE Market is one of the largest markets in the Mfantseman Constituency.
Samira Bawumia:
The wife of the Vice President, Samira Bawumia commended the Chieftaincy Minister for showing commitment to the welfare of the people of Mfantseman.
She urged the community to look at the good works of Asabeee and vote massively for Dr Bawumia to continue to commit resources to the development of the country.
Chieftaincy Minister:
On his part, Hon Asamoah Boateng thanked the Chiefs and people as eell as the MP for the area for honouring him.
He also commended the wife of the Vice-President for showing commitment to the empowerment of women and the youth of Ghana.
Hon Boateng urged Mfantseman residents to vote massively for Dr Bawumia so as to enable him to protect the implementation of NPP policies and also begin the transformational ones he has been promising.
