A/R:REGSEC Issues Strong Security Directives Ahead of 2024 Polls, Bans Toy guns, Firecrackers on Election Day

The Ashanti Regional Minister Security Council (REGSEC) has issued a strong security directive ahead of the 2024 polls.

According to REGSEC, the use of toy guns and firecrackers on election day is strictly prohibited.

In a press release signed by the Ashanti Region Minister and copied to OTEC News Desk on Thursday, REGSEC said the election environment in the region will be peaceful, free, and fair for all.

REGSEC has urged all voters to feel free and go out in their numbers to exercise their constitutional rights on December 7.

The council has also warned that anyone who flouts these directives will be dealt with according to the laws of the country.

REGSEC has assured the public that the security of the elections will be the responsibility of the state security. Only Electoral Commission staff, accredited political parties, polling station agents, observers, and voters will be allowed in polling centers.

Voters are advised to leave the polling centers immediately after casting their votes. Bodyguards of ministers, deputy ministers, and dignitaries are not allowed to enter the polling centers or carry weapons.

REGSEC has urged all stakeholders to cooperate and comply with the directives to ensure a free, fair, transparent, and peaceful election environment.
