Dr Yakubu Seidu Adam is new CEO of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital

Dr. Yakubu Seidu Adam has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH), effective Tuesday, 6th May 2025.

He succeeds Dr. Opoku Ware Ampomah, whose term ended in October 2024. During the interim period, Dr. Frank Owusu-Sekyere, the Director of Medical Affairs, served as acting CEO.

Dr. Adam brings over two decades of experience to the role, having joined KBTH in 2003 as a Consultant Eye Surgeon specialising in glaucoma, cataract, and refractive surgery.

He has held significant positions, including Head of the Lions International Eye Centre since 2017, where he led the center to prominence in the subregion .

A Fellow of the Ghana College of Surgeons, Dr. Adam is also affiliated with the Ophthalmological Society of Ghana, the Turkish Ophthalmology Society, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. His contributions to clinical research are notable, with numerous publications in respected local and international peer-reviewed journals.

In his new capacity, Dr. Adam is expected to lead KBTH in its mission to provide world-class healthcare, advance medical research, and offer comprehensive medical training. His appointment aligns with the hospital’s strategic initiatives, including the ongoing Legacy Project aimed at transforming healthcare delivery in Ghana .

Expressing his commitment, Dr. Adam stated, “Together, we can build a better Korle Bu,” emphasizing collaborative efforts to enhance the hospital’s services and impact.
