One Week observation of Late Mamponghene: Solemn Atmosphere as Mourners Paint  Community with Black Bandanas

All is set for the one-week observation of the late Asante Mamponghene, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, with mourners adorning the Mampong community with red and black bandanas.

Thousands of mourners are expected to converge on the forecourt of the Asante Mampong palace to mark the event scheduled for Monday, May 12, 2025.

Chairman of the Planning Committee, Ejurahene Barimah Osei Hwedie II, who also doubles as the Adontenhene of Mampong Traditional Council, revealed that high-profile personalities from Ghana are expected to attend the occasion.

Speaking to OTEC News Reporter Kwame Agyenim Boateng ahead of the main event on Sunday, Barimah Osei Hwedie II appealed to the public to attend in large numbers to support the traditional council during this difficult time.

He used the opportunity to eulogize the late Occupant of the Silver Stool, describing him as one of the most prolific chiefs in Ghana.

“We have lost a huge asset. Daasebre Osei Bonsu II was not just a very learned chief but someone who dedicated his life to the development of Asanteman and Ghana,” Barimah Osei Hwedie II emphasized.

He highlighted that Daasebre Osei Bonsu II led major reforms in Ghana’s chieftaincy system, making it more efficient.

The Ejurahene commended the late chief for leaving behind a legendary legacy worth emulating.
