Adu Domfeh elected GJA Ashanti Regional Chairman after rerun

Kofi Adu Domfeh has been elected as the new Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) after securing 20 out of 31 valid votes in a closely contested rerun held on Friday, August 22.
His opponent, Georgina Ama Ankomah, received 11 votes. There were no rejected ballots, and all votes cast were valid.
The rerun was ordered by the GJA Elections Dispute Adjudication Committee (EDAC) following the June 30, 2025, elections, which were marred by irregularities. These included a breach of GJA constitutional provisions and concerns over voter eligibility, such as a journalist registered in the Greater Accra Region voting in Ashanti.
In response, the EDAC directed a fresh election within 14 working days, with strict guidelines such as no supplementary voter lists and the publication of the final voter register ahead of time.
With his victory, Kofi Adu Domfeh is now the Chairman-elect for the Ashanti Region GJA, bringing closure to weeks of electoral uncertainty and reaffirming the Association’s commitment to fairness and transparency.
