Kumasi: Residents of Dote impose self curfew after relentless armed robbery attacks

Residents of Dote in the Asokore Mampong Municipality, have imposed a self-declared curfew following a series of relentless attacks by armed robbers.
According to the residents, the increasing criminal activities have left many people injured, robbed of their valuables, and living in constant fear.
Speaking to Otec News, Elizabeth Gyamfuaa Fosu reported that several residents shared their horrifying experiences.
One female victim recounted, “I was attacked recently by unknown robbers. They took my phone, handbag containing money, and important documents.”
Another resident added, “I saw two men on a motorbike robbing a lady right outside my window. It was terrifying.”
An elderly woman also lamented that the thieves broke her water pipe, expressing fear that they might destroy something even more important next time.
Dote’s Abusuapanin, Nana Kwaku Adu, revealed that the community once had volunteer security personnel who were paid by landlords.
However, for the past three years, they have been unable to afford their services.
The residents are therefore appealing to the Member of Parliament for the constituency and the Asokore Mampong Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Ben Abdallah Alhassan, to support the community by establishing a watchdog committee and ensuring regular police patrols to restore safety and order.
