IGP deploys over 100 police officers for special operation in Ashanti Region

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohonu, has deployed hundreds of police personnel to the Ashanti Region to embark on a special, classified security operation aimed at enhancing public safety and maintaining law and order.

The large-scale deployment forms part of the Ghana Police Service’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its security presence across key areas in the region and reinforce peace and stability.

Dr. Gariba urged the officers to demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and discipline, stressing that operational integrity and coordination were essential to the mission’s success.

“We are going to undertake a special operation in the region. The locations will be disclosed as we go. All that the IGP wants you to do is to be professional, firm, robust, and ensure you execute your task as briefed. Move in groups—there shouldn’t be any isolation,” he instructed.

He further cautioned personnel against sharing operational details from the field.

“This operation is very classified, so no personnel is supposed to be seen taking videos, pictures, or sending WhatsApp messages about what is going on. No one is expected to place a phone call disclosing locations or details of the operation,” he warned.
