COKA reveals strategy to restore love for NPP in Ashanti region

The newly elected Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as COKA, has pledged to adopt a “less talk, more work” approach as he leads the party’s regional affairs ahead of the 2028 general elections.

According to COKA, his administration will focus less on media appearances and political rhetoric and more on grassroots mobilisation and tangible results to strengthen the NPP’s fortunes in the Ashanti Region.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, he said his quiet nature would reflect in his leadership style, with the new executives concentrating on work rather than making noise.

“The work will be less talk and noise but more work. Naturally, I don’t talk much, and that is how we are going to work,” he said.

COKA said the ultimate goal was to ensure that the impact of the new administration would be reflected in the NPP’s performance in the 2028 elections.

“We will work more so that the results will reflect in 2028,” he said.

He expressed confidence in his ability, together with the newly elected regional executives, to deliver results in the period leading to the elections.

“God knows I can do the work in this period, and that is why, together with the other executives elected, we have come at the time,” he said.

COKA said the new leadership had an advantage because its members understood the political dynamics of the Ashanti Region and were familiar with the operations of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“We were born here and know all the NDC people and how they operate, so this is the time we also need to change our style,” he noted.

He pointed to the NDC’s Ashanti Regional Chairman as an example of how a low-profile but results-driven approach could yield electoral gains.

According to COKA, the NDC chairman rarely seeks media attention but has nonetheless contributed to the party’s electoral gains in the region.

“The NDC chairman, for instance, in the Ashanti Region, hardly do you hear him talk in the media or see him, but he was able to win seven new seats, increasing the NDC’s votes to 33%. So it shows that his strategy worked,” he stated.

He said the NPP must therefore rethink its approach and focus on rebuilding public confidence and affection for the party in the region.

“So we also need to work hard to restore the love of the NPP in the Ashanti Region,” he said.

COKA believes the new executives have been given the opportunity to revive the party’s fortunes in its traditional stronghold and help former Vice President and NPP flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia secure victory in the 2028 presidential election.

“So I believe this is the time God has brought us as the new executives to bring back the love and help Bawumia become president in 2028,” he added.

COKA was elected chairman in a keenly contested election on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

He secured 663 votes to beat his sole contender, former Bantama Member of Parliament, Dr Henry Kwabena Kokofu, who obtained 269 votes.
