Foreigners driving us out of business-GAIDA

The Ghana Agro Input Dealers Association (GAIDA) is crying foul over the influx of foreigners into the agro input market in the country.

According to them, the situation that has forced many indigenous businesses out of the agro input market meant solely for Ghanaians.

The Ashanti Regional President for the GAIDA and the Chief Executive Officer for Bentronics Agro Chemicals, Benard Kwasi Dwomo, told Otec news’ Jacob Agyenim Boateng they have layed off workers as a result of the invasion by foreigners.

He noted that businesses are dying at an alarming rate due to the inability of local traders to compete with the financial might of foreigners.

Bernard Dwomo noted that government in a bid to improve agriculture in the country has given tax exemptions to players in the agro input sector; however invasion of outsiders in the industry has reduced local players to pawns.

He stressed that the government must check the stiff competition from foreigners.

“All we want is for government to immediately drive foreigners out of agro input  market” he demanded.

Launched in September 2004, GAIDA is a national body of agricultural input dealers in Ghana to provide agricultural imputs and maximize food productivity in the country.
