Asantehene dissolves Asantehemaa’s court
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has indefinitely dissolved the Asantehemaa court, according to reliable source at the Manhyia Palace.
The announcement was made by the Asantehene on Tuesday when he visited the court, ordering the members to vacate with immediate effect.
According to the source, the Asantehene has also ordered the secretariat to transfer all cases since Asantehemaa, Nana Ama Konadu, took over the court, to his office.
It is not immediately known what prompted the action.
The court is presided over by the Asantehemaa, comprising two divisions, Kotinso and Nkonson with queens and chiefs as members.
The court sits on Tuesdays and Thursdays and settles disputes on social issues, involving marriages, quarrels, curses, cheats among others.
