Don’t castigate ref Sukah – Eddie Doku

Chairman for the referees appointment committee, Eddie Doku says referee Sukah should not be castigated for the penalty he awarded Accra hearts of oak during last week’s clash with Kumasi Asante kotoko.

 
Accra hearts of oak ended their Winless run against Kotoko when referee Samuel Sukah pointed to the spot after Samuel Yeboah’s shot hit the back of Kotoko defender, Ahmed Adams’s back in the 18yard box.

 
Supporters, management and other football enthusiasts have blasted refreee Samuel Sukah for his decision and called for a lengthy ban on him.

 
But referees appointment committee chairman, Eddie Dokuo told Osei Akoto Kanu on Otec Royal sports that though he did not see a penalty from his position, refreee Sukah should be given the benefit of the doubt because his position on the pitch could have caused him to see it as a penalty.

 
“From where I was sitting, it did not look like a clear penalty But I have been in football for a very long time…you could walk with somebody and the person may see things that you don’t see. I was was saying that in refereeing, you look at the position of the referee at the time the incident happened.”

 
According to him, refreee Sukah saw right at the spot and on the spot, and should be given the benefit of the doubt.

 
He called on all disappointed football fans and supporters of Kotoko to stop castigating And crucifying the referees for an offence he may not have intentionally committed but work on better camera angles and equipments.
