Transport Union Calls off Demo Against Tow Levy

Members of Cooperative Transport Union have rescinded their decision to demonstrate against the implementation of the mandatory towing levy despite their earlier reservations.
“We are not embarking on our demonstration against government for now because the President has not appended his signature to it”, Ashanti Regional Chair, Kwabena Boateng revealed.
“It is not yet time for our members to do anything against the implementation”, Mr. Boateng added.
“Parliament has passed it but we will want to see the President appending his signature for it’s full implementation before we will start any demonstrated”, he indicated on a radio interview.
The Road and Transport Committee in parliament have approved the controversial mandatory towing levy despite rejection by motorists across the board.
Some transport unions have hinted to hit the streets if the policy they say attempt by government to fleece them is not rescinded.
However, members of the Cooperative Transport Union led by their chairman stated members have halted any planned demonstration.
“There are several laws Parliament has passed but still not implemented.    ….we hope this will be one of them”, he stated.
