Alan K chickens-out of NPP conference as Bawumia reigns high with support from Ashanti MPs (Photos)

Alan K chickened out of the NPP conference as Dr Mahamudu Bawumia reigned high with support from Ashanti MPs as they endorsed the Vice President as candidate for the 2024 presidential election.

Our sources indicate that, at the time of the church service to begin the party’s Annual National Delegates Conference which is currently underway in Kumasi on Sunday December 19, 2021, Mr Alan K Kyerematen, the Minister of Trade and Industry was nowhere to found as Vice President Dr Mahammudu Bawumia made a triumphant entry to conference grounds accompanied by almost all the Ashanti NPP MPs.

Some of the MPs said, they cannot fathom how and why the Trade Minister was not around at the  time of the Church Service but they can only suspect  that Alan K, as he is affectionately called, may not want to see how Dr Bawumia was hailed by almost all the delegates when he (Dr Bawumia) made the triumphant entry to the Heroes Park, Baba Yara Stadium.

One of the MPs who spoke to this reporter on condition of anonymity said the MPs believe Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is the best bet for the NPP in 2024 because of his unprecedented record.

Grassroots Support for Dr Bawumia

Grassroots Supporters in the Ashanti region also called on the party’s rank and file to unite behind whoever is elected presidential candidate of the NPP, because “there must be unity if we are to consolidate power in 2024 to break the 8 year jinx.”

According to the group, “Dr Bawumia has done a great job for the government and the party especially in the 2016 and 2020 elections” pointing out that he (Dr Bawumia) has increased votes from northern Ghana for the party.

They maintained that,  the Dr Bawumia had the vision, capacity and good programmes to manage the economy to provide better standards of living for every Ghanaian, hence the need for every member to support his candidature and work towards breaking the ‘8’.
