NDC official killed in car accident in Central Region
The Elections Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Central Region, Yaw Asiedu, has died at the 37 Military Hospital on Tuesday, December 13.
The regional chairman of the NDC, Allotey Jacobs, confirmed the death, adding that the lawyer passed away in the afternoon.
He explained that Mr Asiedu and Mr Eric Essuah, the Central regional treasurer, were involved in the accident on the Apam-Winneba stretch of the Cape Coast-Accra highway when they were transporting copies of ‘pink sheets’ from agents to the party’s headquarters.
They were rushed to the Specialist and Trauma Hospital in Winneba and later transferred to the 37 Military Hospital but we regret to say that Lawyer Yaw Asiedu, a great asset to the Central Regional NDC did not survive,” Mr Jacobs added.
He further urged party members to pray for the departed soul and also pray for the recovery of Mr Eric Essuah.
This comes in the wake of the loss of the party in the presidential polls held on December 7, as a significant number of the party’s parliamentarians also lost their seats.
