The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) election slated for March 15 is said to hit a snag as electorate complain of alleged undue manipulations by incumbency, according to starr sports.
According to some federation representatives, the delegates’ lists have been bloated by an extra 10 members who they think are not eligible to vote.
Per the list, two delegates from each of the 23 Olympic sports federations, two representing the Athletes Commission and 15 representing the non Olympic Sport and federations affiliated to the GOC will cast their votes to choose the new officers to lead the GOC for the next four years.
On the other hand, the president of the Volleyball Federation, Paul Atchoe has petitioned the three-man election commission to authenticate the citizenship of incumbent Professor Francis Dodoo after Irish Cilian Walsh has been disqualified for being a foreigner leading the Shooting Federation.
Elsewhere, President of the Cycling federation, Mohammed Sahnoon has also questioned the candidature of nominees for Sessa, handball and rowing as well as the neutrality of graphic boss Ken Ashigbey.
From an impeccable source within the federations a court injunction is likely to be placed on the elections in the coming days.
Meanwhile, 36 people have successfully filed their nominations to contest the 12 positions.
