Gov’t on Course, more promises to fulfill – Oppong Nkrumah

Deputy Minister of information, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has touted that government has achieved many milestones within the past 6 months but still have a lot of promises to fulfil.

''But we are still nowhere yet so let us not jubilate because there are still many problems to solve, there are many taxes to either reduce or scrap as promised in the Npp manifesto.''

According to him, government has been able to block many loopholes in the revenue management system and scrapped of some taxes as part of the promises made to Ghanaians but government is uncritical about itself over these achievements.

speaking to Agya Owusus on Otec fm's Dwabrem program, the member of parliament for Ofoase Ayirebi in the eastern region explained that government has been successful at protecting the public purse and also making sure public funds are used judiciously.

''This is why we have enough funds to commence government's policies like the Free SHS, One district one factory and One million Dollars per constituency, despite the scrapping and reduction in taxes.''

Hon. Oppong Nkrumah disclosed that government will spend Ghs 400 million on the free SHS policy this year and GHs 1.6 billion next year without putting any extra tax burdens on Ghanaians as a result of the successful plugging of loopholes in the revenue collection machinery of the state.

''have you heard about any additional taxes to support the 1 million dollars per constituency policy'', he queried.

He disclosed that government is realigning funds accrued from the plugged loopholes in the revenue collection machinery to fund all these policies.
