The Deputy Executive of National Service Scheme (NSS) Henry Nana Boakye (aka Nana Bee) has lauded as apt the appointment of Sammy Awuku as the board Chairman of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA).
Nana Bee who described Sammy Awuku as competent to Chair the YEA board said the appointment is a testament to the soaring and ever-growing potentials of the Ghanaian youth.
“This singular decision by the President of the Republic of Ghana would inspire and motivate the teeming youth of Ghana to strive to add value to themselves so as to gain recognition to contribute significantly to Nation-building,” he added.
The board which was inaugurated on Friday, September 15, 2017 comprises Sammy Awuku, Dr. Kwame Amoako Tuffour, Lawyer Bright Justine Kodua Frimpong, the acting CEO of the agency and Lawyer Bright Wireko Brobbery, Deputy Minister for employment and labour relations.
Former Minister for Power Dr. Kwabena Donkor earlier said, Mr Awuku is not fit to head the YEA board.
In a statement, he questioned the suitability of Mr Awuku for the post and appealed to the president to reconsider the decision.
But speaking to OTEC FM on this development, Henry Nana Boakye said Mr Sammy Awuku has all the experience and knowledge to fill the vacuum.
According to him, Mr Awuku has been awarded several times both internationally and locally due to his competent and inspiration to the Youth.
Recently the National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), Sammy Awuku was honored by the All Africa Students Union as the 2017 youth icon.
“We need one of our own who can feel the joblessness of the youth,” Nana Bee concluded.
