SHS postings out: 267,327 placed; 36, 849 can’t be posted

All candidates who passed their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) this year can from this morning, September 1, check to know the senior high school they have been posted. A total of 424, 092 candidates representing 92 per cent, who qualified have been posted to the various senior high schools across the country under the Computerised School Selection Placement System (CSSPS).
From 8:00am today, candidates can log onto www.myresult.net to know their SHS postings, a statement issued by the Ghana Education Service and signed by its acting Director General, Prof Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa said.
The Ghana Education Service explained that 36, 849 candidates representing eight per cent of the total candidates who sat for the exams, were not placed “because they scored a grade 9 in either English or Mathematics”.
The statement, however, failed to state what happens to those candidates. “267,327 candidates secured places in schools of their choice, whilst 150,770 candidates could not be placed in a school of their choice.
They are being given the second chance of choosing school”. It asked qualified candidates who did not get placement in their choice to go online and to resect available schools within 48 hours September 1 to be placed.
It announced that the 2017/18 academic year for all senior high schools will commence on September 11, 2017, and that “all Form One students are expected to report to their schools on that day”.
