Upper East Deserves Asphalted Roads – Hon. Adongo

Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central Constituency in the Upper East Region, Hon. Isaac Adongo has dared the President Akufo-Addo led NPP government to maintain the proposed asphalting of the Bolgatanga – Bawku – Pulmakom road.

According to him, the NPP government has decided to change the proposed asphalt design of the 116km Bolgatanga – Bawku – Pulmakom road which was started by Mahama led NDC government.

The project was awarded to Queiroz Galvao, a Brazilian company in July 2016, under the erstwhile John Mahama administration. It was expected to be completed in about 30 months.

When completed, the road will address the difficulties drivers go through when plying the Bolga – Bawku road.

It will also serve as an alternative route for transporting agricultural products and other goods from the north to the south through the Eastern corridor.

Speaking to Otec FM, the Bolgatanga Central law maker said everybody know Bolga – Bawku – Pulmakom but what we are worrying is that instead of the asphalt they want change the design of the Bolga – Bawku Pulmakom road.

“We beg of him to reverse to the original road drawing and asphalt it for us,” he pleaded.

“It is a designated ongoing project. Don’t we need an asphalt, Upper East we don’t have even one asphalt if by God grace we are going to get one asphalt on Bolga – Bawku – Pulmakom road you said you are going to change it. He should let us get our portion because we are also Ghanaians,” he fumed.

The ranking Member of the finance in Parliament also charged the government to complete projects such as the Rural Electrification Project.

According to him, there are about nine communities in the Bolgatanga Central which were left behind when they started fixing the light and therefore urged president Akufo-Addo and the Energy minister to revisit the project for completion

Hon. Isaac Adongo further appealed to the government to as matter of urgency find ways to minimize the effects of the opening of the white Volta and the Bagre dam on the people of the area.
