Bantama gang rape video: Asokwa court orders school records of suspects

The Asokwa District Court (One)  has ordered for the school records for the  four teenagers standing trial for gang raping a girl in Bantama late last year to determine their real ages.

The ages of the suspects became subject of debate in the court. The court presided by His Worship Peter Oppong-Boahen postponed the hearing to Wednesday January 10, 2018

OTECNEWS source at the court revealed that a written order has been issued to the schools of the four to furnish it with the register and terminal reports of the suspects to ascertain their true ages.

The schools in question have one week to provide the information to the court for the prosecution process to resume.

The gang rape video has sparked massive outrage in the country with the majority of Ghanaians calling on the police to ensure that the boys are prosecuted.

The about five minutes video shows an underage girl pinned to a mattress by one of her abusers while his accomplices take turns in an attempt to perform sexual acts on her.

The victim who was resisting her attackers all-through the ordeal was restrained from escaping by her abusers who appeared to be having fun with the torture.

Various civil society groups have already condemned the incident and called on the police to take immediate action against the suspects.
