PTA to name and shame school heads for misappropriating development levy

The President of the National Council of Parent Teacher Association (PTA), Mr. Alexander Danso, has cautioned heads of basic and second cycle schools against misappropriation of development levy and staff incentive fund, adding that such heads would soon be named and shamed.

Speaking to otecfmghana.com on Monday, February 19, 2018, at Kumasi, Mr. Danso stated that the staff incentive fund was introduced to motivate teaching and none teaching staff whilst the development levy was to cater for infrastructural expansion in the various schools but heads of schools have allegedly diverted the funds.

This singular act, according to Mr. Danso, had hindered the progress of schools in terms of infrastructure development.

He was however not enthused that, even though the current government said they have absorbed the development levy and the staff incentive, nothing had been paid to the PTAs.

The President of the National Council of PTA added that some parents have accused heads of schools for failing to render proper account for them. Mr. Danso consequently threatened to take-on any headmaster or headmistress who charged unapproved fees.
