10 year old accident victim family cries for help

The family of a 10-year old girl, Barikisu alhasan, from Atwima Mfensi in the Nwadiagya south District of the Ashanti Region is appealing to the government and the police administration to come to help them locate Kwado Mark, a driver who was ordered by Kumasi high court to compensate the family for paralyzing their daughter through careless driving.

Mother of the girl, madam Issah Fulera, narrating her ordeal on OTEC flashy program, “ASEM BEBA DABI” hosted by Nana Yaw Krobea Asante said on December 5, 2013, her daughter was going to her friend when kwadwo Mark (DRIVER) knocked her down with his Opel Astra Taxi Cab, with registration number AW 2834-12 and took to his heels.

She said the case was reported to Nkawie police command and the driver was subsequently apprehended whilst the girl was also sent to Okomfo anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH)for treatment.

She indicated that due to the seriousness of the damage caused, the hospital implanted catheter in her genitals so she could pass urine. Madam Issah Fulera revealed that upon interrogation, the police discovered that the driver was driving without an approved drivers license so he was charged for causing harm and driving without authorized license.

The case she noted was later referred by Nkawie circuit court to Kumasi high court.

On March 14, 2015, the Kumasi high court found Kwame MARK (driver) and Samuel Attah Kwabena (CAR OWNER) guilty and were fined One Hundred and Fifty thousand Ghana cedis (GH150,000.00) to compensate the aggrieved family.

She said after the court’s judgement, the driver and the car owner had absconded. Madam Issah Fulera is therefore demanding a re-arrest of the two, to face the wrath of the law.
