Trader found dead in her shop; residents arrest suspect
A 40-year-old petty trader has been found dead in her container shop at Aduaben near Feyiase in the Bosomtwi District of the Ashanti Region.
The body of the victim, Andrian Viara, was found when a resident went to buy water from her shop.
The deceased was found dead wearing only underwear with her hands and legs tied with a piece of cloth.
Her mouth was also gagged with a piece of cloth.
Police at the Kuntenase command confirmed the incident to OtecNews.
According to Police, they found fingerprints on the body of the deceased, the fridge in the shop and some money container when they assessed the scene.
Suspect apprehended
Residents in the area later arrested a 20-year-old identified as Osei Kofi and handed him over to the police.
The residents alleged that the suspect was heard communicating with another person on phone rebuking him as to why he should kill the woman.
They also claimed that the suspect mentioned in the course of the conversation that he only asked him to rob the woman and not to kill her.
The phone of the suspect which was damaged in the course of the arrest was taken by police to assist in investigations.
The deceased’s brother, Kwaku Duah, who spoke to Otec News called on police to ensure the perpetrators are arrested.
“Nothing of this sort has ever happened here, that someone will be gruesomely murdered in her own home. She has been staying here for a long time… we are all shaken by this tragedy. we are appealing to government and the police to help bring all the perpetrators to book,” he said to otecNews.
The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the St. Michael Hospital mortuary at Pramso pending autopsy.
