Jobless nurses pass night at MoH, MoF

The Coalition of Unemployed Private Nurses are today, Tuesday, 29 May 2018, are continuing picketing the Finance Ministry and Ministry of Health to demand their immediate postings.
The unemployed nurses spent the night at the two ministries after officialdom failed to address their grievances on Monday, 28 May 2018.
The group has accused the sector ministers of delaying the process.
A police reinforcement was dispatched to disperse the nurses but they refused to leave.
President of the jobless nurses, Richmond Asomaning Marfo, told Class News: “Our mission here has not been accomplished, so, we are not going back, and as I’m talking to you now, we’re here agitating, the police and security are also here.
We’re going to be here until we hear something tangible from the government, and that is, until we hear that our clearance is in, then we’ll ask them to give us evidence of whatever they are telling us. We’re not going to kowtow to promises that it will be worked on, this time round, we are not moving…”
A month ago, the nurses rejected government’s Nation Builders Corps (NaBCo) job intervention programme meant to give them temporary jobs as efforts were made to create permanent jobs for unemployed graduates.
They said NaBCo was an attempt by government to deny them permanent employment. They fear government will be adamant to push for their financial clearance which will give them the opportunity to become permanent employees of the Ministry of Health, if they agree to be enroled into the Heal Ghana module under NaBCo.
They also fear they will be denied full benefits with regard to their conditions of service under the module.
