Poor access roads: Atonsu-Kuwait residents to stage demo
Residents of Atonsu-kuwait in the Asokwa Municipality of the Ashanti region have threatened to embark on demonstration protest the failure of government to fix deplorable itinerary roads within the area.
Speaking to OTEC news, the residents said roads within the central business district of Kumasi that are in good shape are being resurfaced to make them first class roads whilst all access roads within Atonsu-Kuwait are very bad.
“we can only result to demonstrate against the appropriate authority to show them our displesure on what they are doing to us. Latest by next week we will embark on demonstration, it is time to show them our grievances” residents hinted.
AREA TRADITIONAL AUTHORITY WARNING
Oheneyere Nana Abena Akyeaa, Queen Mother of Atonsu traditional area warned the Member of Parliament for the area, Madam Patricia Appiagyei, against what she describes as fabricated excuses of the later.
“For couple of years now, I have been personally involved in several attempts to lobby through the Member of Parliament (MP), Mama Pat but, always she has been telling me her party is not in power so now NPP is in power, she can’t tell me her party is not in power again” Oheneyere Nana Abena Akyeaa warned.
CLOSURE OF ATONSU-KUWAIT OTI ROAD
“If KMA fails to fix the deplorable access roads in our area, we will block the road leading to that Oti landfill site because that stretch of Atonsu Kuwait- Oti road forms part of lands that I dominion over. Therefore I and my people are demanding that KMA repairs all access roads in our area” Oheneyere Nana Abena Akyeaa threatened.
“I’m calling on the President Nana Addo Dankwa-Akufo Addo, Ashanti regional minister Mr. Simon Osei Mensah and the Mayor Mr Osei Assibey Antwi to ensure our deplorable access roads are repaired before the 2020 general elections because we all voted for Nana Addo” she stressed.
According to Oheneyere Nana Abena Akyeaa since she had been communicating with the Member of Parliament for the area, Madam Patricia Appiagyei and the assemblyman for Atonsu-Kuwait, Elliot Ofosu Bano, in connection with the deplorable itinerary roads in the area.
The Queen Mother of Atonsu traditional area attributes the failure of local authorities to inaugurate their neglected health facility to political expediency as well as litigation on the land where the newly built hospital is being cited.
