Asokwa MCE tours Municipality for firsthand information

Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asokwa Municipal Assembly, Mr. Akwanuasa Gyimah, has begun a 2-day working tour in the area aimed at interacting with people of the new district and learn at first hand challenges confronting them for redress.

Areas visited so far included Asokwa extension, Asokwa old town and Okomfo Badukrom among others.

Addressing residents of Asokwa extension, Mr. Akwanuasa stated that the assembly being a young one lacks the necessary infrastructure and finance therefore needed the support of all people for accelerated development in the area.

He however called on the people of the Asokwa area to start paying property rate and other taxes to enhance the work of the Assembly.

Some residents who were in attendance called on the MCE to address the issue of security especially at night. They said series of robbery and other criminal cases have been recorded in Asokwa extension lately.

Bad road network within Asokwa Extension was another serious concern of the people.

Authorities of the Asokwa Presbyterian Junior High School (JHS) and primary school also appealed to the MCE to help resource their computer laboratory and fencing of the school to prevent further encroachment.

In a response, Mr. Akwanuasa promised that the Assembly will do its best to attend to get all the challenges resolved. The Asokwa MCE announced a reconstruction of the Ahinsan to Sewua junction road will soon commence.

He added that the congested main Atonsu-Agogo lorry terminal which has become a major contributor to the heavy traffic in the area is about to be relocated even before works on the road begins.
