Angry First Allied Customers give gov’t ten-day ultimatum

Some angry customers of First Allied Savings and Loans have given the government a 10-day ultimatum to intervene and help them retrieve locked-up investments or they hit the streets of Kumasi.

According to the aggrieved customers, they will commence on a nationwide demonstration by the end of the ten-day ultimatum starting Tuesday February 26, 2019 if owners of the company and Bank of Ghana fails to address them and assures them of their investment.

Addressing a press conference in Kumasi on Tuesday, 26 February 2019,  the Chairman for the aggrieved customers  Mr.  Kofi Sarpong said their deposits and investments have been locked up at the financial institution for the past nine months.

Mr Kofi Sarpong said petitions have been sent to the Ministry of Finance, Bank of Ghana (BoG), the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Peace Council and the government among other necessary authorities but have not yielded any results.

He noted that they have petitioned all the appropriate quarters in the country about the company’s refusal to pay them but all efforts had proven futile.

Hundreds of the customers from Brong Ahafo, Eastern, Western, Northern, Greater Accra and Ashanti Regions   turned up in their numbers at the conference.

Some of the angry customers who spoke to OTEC news’ reporter Kwame Agyenim Boateng said the situation is negatively affecting their livelihoods, hence the need for the Bank of Ghana’s intervention.

They have therefore appealed to the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo and the Asantehen Otumfour Osei Tutu to intervene in the situation
